An example of the pheromone attractant is demonstrated on eels in this video by an experiment conducted by the Chinese Pearl River Institute.
The Eels in the aquarium are offered their standard feed on the left and the feed treated with synthetic eel pheromones on the right.
The eels are immediately drawn by the attractant on the right. The Aquatice pheromone signal alerts the eels to the presence of feed and they hunt eagerly until the feed is located.
Toward the end of the experiment the tank water becomes saturated with the scent and the hunting becomes more random as the eels search for the feed everywhere.
